Tutorial: Connect Your Domain to Our Server

This guide walks you through how to point your domain name to our server to get your site online.

Prerequisites:

  • Have your login credentials for your domain registrar.
  • Our Server IP Address: 37.120.185.34

Case No. 1: You Use OVH (Detailed Guide)

Here is the exact procedure for OVH, one of the most common providers in France and Europe.

Step 1: Access Domain Management

  1. Go to ovh.com/manager.
  2. Log in with your username (e.g. ab12345-ovh) and password.
  3. Once logged in, click the Web Cloud tab at the top of the page (dark blue menu bar).
  4. In the left sidebar, click Domain names.
  5. A dropdown list appears. Click the domain name you want (e.g. my-company.com).

Step 2: Access the DNS Zone

  1. On your domain’s main page, you’ll see several tabs (General information, DNS Zone, DNS Servers, etc.).
  2. Click the DNS Zone tab.
    • Note: Do not click "DNS Servers"; we need "DNS Zone".

Step 3: Change the Pointing (A Record)

You’ll see a table with many rows. We need to edit (or create) the rows of type A.

Editing the root (domain without www):

  1. In the table, find the row where:
    • The Domain column shows your domain (e.g. my-company.com.) with nothing in front.
    • The Type column shows A.
  2. On the right side of that row, click the ... button (or the pencil) and choose Edit entry.
  3. A window opens:
    • Target: Clear the current address and paste our IP address: 37.120.185.34.
  4. Click Next then Confirm.

Editing the default address (domain WITH www):

  1. Now find the row where:
    • The Domain column shows www.my-company.com.
    • The Type column shows A (or sometimes CNAME).
  2. Click the ... button on the right and choose Edit entry.
    • If it was type A: In the Target field, enter our IP: 37.120.185.34.
    • If it was type CNAME: You can leave it as is (if it points to your root domain), or delete it and create an A record for "www" pointing to our IP.
  3. Confirm.

Important: Do not modify MX (email) or NS records. If in doubt, contact us before confirming.

Step 4: Validation

Once confirmed, OVH shows a yellow banner saying "Update in progress". Propagation can take from 1 to 24 hours, but it usually works in under 4 hours.
